Campaign Activities

The main campaign elements have been divided into two dimensions: An international communications campaign and a national activity campaign. Some of the projects are presented here (status May 2009):

Activating Snow Desire: International Communication Campaign

The main communication tool are the FIS SnowKidz. Click here for more.

FIS SnowKidz Award 2010: To recognize the best and most successful national projects, FIS is launching a new award. For more information, visit here.

World Snow Day: A program is being created in which the NSAs could participate in their countries with similar activities during a defined period of the year (e.g. two weekends), to be launched as of season 2010/2011.

A FIS Fairytale Collection - one snow story for each day of the year - publication date TBC

Enabling Snow Experience: National Activity Campaign

The backbone of the national activity campaign is formed by the many existing national activities in progress since years. For more make sure to visit the FIS Wiki at www.bringchildrentothesnow.com

Additional projects currently under development include:

Children ski for less - FIS SnowKidz Ski Resort project

According to a recent survey FIS commissioned, one of the main obstacles for more snow activity is the (perceived) cost of a day in the snow. In an effort to lower this obstacle, criteria is being defined for ski resorts to become official FIS campaign partners. Participating resorts would be asked to allow children up to 9 or 10 (TBC) to ski for free and to grant a discount of e.g. 30% (TBC) on the price of a youth ticket (typically until 18) for children/youth aged 10-14. In exchange, the resort would i.e. receive the right to call themselves an Official FIS SnowKidz Resort and leverage the campaign brand and associated tools in their communications. Work is in progress with select countries finalize the partnership criteria.

FIS SnowZone - Snow Action Package

Another main obstacle for families spending more time in the snow is considered to be access by children living in urban areas. To this effect FIS SnowZone was created. In short, the FIS SnowZone is a children's snow play area in an urban area with components including a simple moving trail and tools for other snow activities. A road show at select FIS World Cup events is planned for 2009/2010 season. This project needs to be co-financed by partner(s) and necessitates National Ski Association help for implementation.
